Didactical commentary:

From the very beginning, the children should experience breath as an essential part of recorder playing. Exercises professional wind players are familiar with (see Teacher’s Guide Breathing) were adjusted to a format appropriate for children. At first, it is not about perfect practice and real training, but the children experience at first unconsciously, later more and more consciously, breath as carrier and creator of sound. Video examples of the exercises complement the documentation here as well as in the teacher’s guide.
